Be Ready (Reflection) – Assembly this week
Wed 25 Jun 2025This week, we talked to the children about the Windrush. We started the assembly off with asking the children about their understanding of the Windrush and whether they knew anything about it. Some of the younger children had heard of it and some of the older children could remember some of the facts about what happened. We asked the children to think about how they would have felt if they had to leave their home and move to a new country. There were some great responses and the children were very good at placing themselves in the shoes of someone at the time. We also discussed how they would have felt if they had made such a big move and to not be welcomed by the place they move to due to the colour of their skin. This brought about a lot of discussion, It was clearly a very emotive topic. A really good assembly and one that teaches the children about the protected characteristic of race and that we should not discriminate in any way on the grounds of race

Growing together – OPAL
Wed 25 Jun 2025What an amazing week of weather! It is so lovely being an OPAL school when the weather is like this. We have had all the zones open and the children have been enjoying playing. We started the week with an assembly reminding them all about the expectations in the garden. There have been a few occasions where children have been digging up or picking the flowers. We have reminded them that they are to look at and enjoy but not to take from where they are.
This week’s photos show the playleaders leading a game with a large group of children and a row of dens on the infant playground.

Wed 25 Jun 2025The children in the choir had a fantastic trip yesterday. The children set off at 9.30 in the morning to travel to London to see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express. They have been working hard all year and have thoroughly deserved their trip to the show. They all had a brilliant time and the musical was superb. Thank you to the staff for taking them as they weren’t back until 8.30pm! A super day out.

Be Ready (Enjoyment) – Year 4 children at the Open Tennis
Wed 25 Jun 2025We were given the opportunity to offer a small group of children in year 4 the chance to go behind the scenes at the tennis open at the Nottingham Tennis Centre. The children had the opportunity to watch all the players warm up, see some of the tennis courtside and also play some tennis related games. It was a fantastic opportunity and one that I am sure they will not forget.

Wed 25 Jun 2025Thank you to Mrs. Keane for taking a group of children to a golf festival this week. The children attended Radcliffe on Trent golf course. They learnt how to play the game and some of the skills needed to hit the ball effectively. It was a really fun festival. Well done to Henry too who was the only person to hit a hole in one. The children were all fantastic and once again represented Lady Bay brilliantly.

The Lady Bay Safari Sale took place this weekend and was a fantastic success!
Over 100 stalls popped up across Lady Bay offering homemade, preloved & new treasures—and the community came out in full force.
This year’s stall registrations raised over £1,000 for the Lady Bay School Association! Many stalls also supported brilliant causes like RNLI, Millwood Cat Rescue, Lady Bay Greenies, Ukraine Relief, Cat Patrol & more.

Growing together – OPAL
Mon 16 Jun 2025We have had another super week of OPAL lunchtimes. The children are becoming so much more proficient with their play and are really enjoying the different zones we have on offer. Over the next month, we have two schools coming to visit us to see how we manage our play offering on a restricted site. We are really excited to show what progress we have made so far and to share our plans moving forward with them. We are constantly reviewing the play offering we have in school. If you have any feedback (both positive and constructive) or would like to share your child’s view of OPAL, please do email me at head@ladybay.notts.sch.uk
Your feedback helps us to shape our offering and how we move forward with play at Lady Bay.
This week’s photo shows some children in year 2 who were very proud of their den. It took them a long time to make it and it had lots of different features.

Ready – Boys’ County Cup final
Mon 16 Jun 2025The boy’s faced Edwalton in the County Cup final this week. It was an incredible achievement to reach the final and the boys gave it their all. We were deservedly 1-0 for the majority of the game and played some really good football. Edwalton scored 1 with 8 minutes to go and as we tried to get the winner, they broke on us to score the second in the final minutes of the game. We were all disappointed for the boys who were brilliant. We have had an excellent season, winning 2 trophies and a possible third with the league. Well done Lady Bay!
